Kate & Trevor
I know I'm not supposed to pick favorites, but it's pretty hard not to when an engagement session comes out like this. Forget the literally epic scenery and perfect California light, an amazing result comes from two people bringing a vision and trusting me to bring it to life.
We open at the lovely Presidio Park in San Diego, on hills overlooking the city and the Old Town Market, rich with history and sites from early European settlers of the area. And sadly we only had the time for a tiny portion of the beautiful property.
"These are INSANE!!! I can’t even believe how amazing they are!!! Wow, wow, wow, wow!!!!! Literally gorgeous!! Works of art! Your photography skill are phenomenal!!!"
—Ann, Mother of the Bride
Pretty much the best feeling in the world to get a response like that from a client, I must say!

Junipero Serra Museum
This was the building we came for; white plaster walls and arches, Spanish tiles and a charming bell tower. If we weren't so excited to get to our next location, I certainly would have spent another hour photographing Kate & Trevor being snuggly and sophisticated at this beautiful museum.

The Sunset Cliffs
Oh, and now for the really fun bit. Ask anyone in San Diego where to go for amazing views, and they'll tell you the Sunset Cliffs. And they're not wrong. A backdrop like this with a perfect sunset is the surest recipe for ultra romantic and epic engagement photos. Views like this remind me of the goodness and immense creativity of God.

The Race to Ocean Beach
As absolutely breathtaking as the Sunset Cliffs were, Kate also really wanted some photos of her and Trevor in the water. Everyone and their dog was on the coastline, because that's what happens when the beaches get above sixty degrees in January! Kate's father raced us over to Ocean Beach, fighting traffic and time, for us to catch the last few moments of golden hour. Meanwhile Trevor's mother went to get us bags of the local saltwater taffy, so who's the real hero of the evening, here? If you don't know, saltwater taffy is my weakness.
We were sandy, freezing, and unabashedly a spectacle for those around us as I captured them on the beach. And it made for another set of truly romantic and playful memories. When Kate & Trevor show their children these photos, I hope they feel how truly in love their parents are.
And can we take a moment for Kate's gorgeous marquise engagement ring? Marquise diamonds hold a place in my heart as it reminds me of my own mother's engagement ring.
I can't wait to celebrate with these two and their darling families in Newport Beach and Rancho Santa Fe this spring!
